AUSTIN: 5 de Mayo Vigil to Honor the Struggle of Human and Civil Rights in Texas

A vigil planned for the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 5 at the South gates of the Capitol will mark Cinco de Mayo celebrations and the ongoing struggle for human and civil rights in Texas.
 
Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory over the French in the Battle of Puebla in 1862. On Thursday, we will solemnly remember the struggle for all people’s freedom, human and civil rights.

We watched with disappointment as the misguided S-Comm bill SB 9 passed in the Texas Senate last week, which has the potential for serious civil rights violations. If you are in Austin, please join us to let our leaders
know we will not be silent when it comes to our commitment to real reform and human dignity.

Una vigilia planeada para el Día Nacional de la Oración (National Day of Prayer) el Jueves, 5 de Mayo en el Capitolio en Austin marcara la lucha por los derechos humanos y civiles en Texas.
 
El Cinco de Mayo conmemora el día de la Batalla de Puebla, en la cual el ejército mexicano venció al ejército francés. Este jueves recordaremos la lucha por la libertad y los derechos humanos y civiles de todos.

Con gran decepción vimos cuando la SB 9 se aprobó en el senado del estado la semana pasada, una propuesta con la potencial de causar serias violaciones de derechos civiles. Si se encuentra en Austin, únase a nosotros a demandar justicia y dignidad.
