AUSTIN: Displaced Art Event this Sunday!

PODER invites you to “Displaced Art,” a free event exhibiting paintings, videos, music, dance and poetry from the East Side.

Come see and meet real barrio artists from East Austin and learn how you can take part in ending gentrification and environmental racism in East Austin. We will also be passing out artistic post cards for you to sing in support of the relocation of the hazardous Pure Casting Facility that is across the street from Zavala Elementary and Pan Am Rec. Center. We will be taking these post cards to the City Council members in December.

WHAT: Displaced Art Exhibit at Space 12

Video screenings and discussions of PODER’s Young Scholars for Justice “Community Displacement and Resistance” and Gilbert Rivera’s video, "We will Always be Here" documenting the deconstruction of a Chicano barrio mural and center in Austin.
