Red Salmon Arts presents Cafè Libro, a bi-monthy open mike series, featuring
Haitian-American writer, cultural worker, performer, & activist Carole Metellus.
Originally from the Eastern United States, Carole presently lives in Austin. With her pen, Carole works to combat oppression in its numerous forms: hunger, violence, racism, sexism, homophobia, abuse, to name a few. She is a member of The Austin Project, an effort which reflects the intersecting work of artists, academics and activists, under the auspices of the Center for African & African-American Studies at UT Austin. Her literary work as appeared in Chariot on the Limp, a collection of Haitian-American poetry, Affirming Flame, an anthology by progressive Texas poets in the aftermath of September 11th, the Lambda Literary Review and others. Last fall, she orchestrated an arts residency in Beijing, China where she exhibited a bi-disciplinary exhibit in visual art and poetry.
We invite poet/artistas to come share/enjoy the cantos & cuentos of emerging & established writers/musicians.
